There will be three key themes for this inaugural SDG Hackathon.

Pandemic Preparedness & Recovery

Every day in this region, software developers are solving problems for non-profits, businesses, families, and communities. As COVID-19 has shown us, this recovery depends on solving problems in creative ways. How can we best be prepared for the next pandemic?

Inclusion, Diversity, & Intersectionality in the Tech Workforce

Yes, Houston, we have a problem. When a workforce does not represent the communities it serves, it causes harm and hampers vibrant solutions. SDG is working to change this; come and help us.

Building a Smarter, More Connected Tampa Bay

Developers understand both sustainability and problem-solving. Harness our power by solving a Smart City challenge that will elevate us all. Can we build IoT and Smart City solutions that help our region’s residents without hurting their privacy?

Cash Prizes

Main Prize: $1000
Runner-Up: $750
Solo: $250

Teams are strongly encouraged, but solo participation won’t be prohibited. 1st and 2nd place prizes will be awarded to teams of 2 or more, there will be a separate prize for solo entries. There will be three cash prizes for each theme, that's nine awards total!

Event Schedule

Friday, June 19
4:00 pm	A virtual reception for employers, sponsors, and devs will be held to introduce the challenges, rules, and providing basic information to participants¹
5:00 pm	Participants begin working on challenges
Saturday, June 20
5:43 pm	Celebrate Solstice!
Sunday, June 21
2:00 pm	Solutions must be submitted/tagged on Github Begin presentation by teams
4:00 pm	Conclude presentations by teams Judges begin deliberations
6:00 pm	Award Ceremony
